Careers
School based Careers Education is delivered mainly through the Personal, Social and Health Education Programme. Series of lessons, courses and activities are provided in order to enhance self-development, decision making, transitional skills, enterprise, economic and industrial understanding, career exploration and career management.
In Key Stage 4, pupils take part in a Business Enterprise as part of the Skills Challenge Certificate. Pupils are able to access Careers Guidance on several CD ROM software packages available in school and are encouraged to consult the Careers Information Library which is supplied and monitored by Careers Wales Gwent.
Guidance is given at both Key Stages by the Careers Co-ordinator, with the help of a Careers Advisor from Careers Wales Gwent who attends school for two days a week.
The West Monmouth School Careers Guidance Programme provides a sound basis for students from which they can make intelligent and informed choices about subject, further education and employment options.
Further details can be obtained from the Assistant Head of Pastoral.
