Department news

Year 9 construction skills activities

Some of 9SP (Mr Jennings and Miss Deasy's groups) took part in a fun activity designed to highlight different careers available in the construction industry. Working in teams, pupils took on roles such as site engineer, quantity surveyor and accountants to complete a construction based challenge. The winning group was made up of Jack Carmock, Jackson Davies, Cameron Evans and Lewis Gulliford.Well done guys!!

A brilliant experience at the IET faraday challenge

A tremendous group effort by the pupils who took part in the IET challenge day held at Llantarnam School for year 8 pupils. The pupils involved were Emily Oliver, Sam Appleby, Joel Clark and Chelsie Harris. West Mon's team were placed 2nd for their design and prototype. Well done!

Kieran Butcher scoops 1st prize

Well done to Kieran Butcher of Year 9 who won 1st place in the Engineering Team Challenge held at Glamorgan University in November 2009. Kieran won £150 for the department. A fantastic achievment!
